Laura Reid is an award-winning storyteller, international speaker and writer. She is on a mission to bring more stories into the world!
Laura’s love for photography has been life long. Her father was an artist and she grew up surrounded by photography and paintings. One of her proudest professional achievements was when her photographs where exhibited along with her father’s work in a show at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, incidentally the town where she was born.
Laura’s quest for adventure was sparked when she joined the Peace Corps and taught school in Zimbabwe for two years. It was there that she learned many life skills that would stick with her (like the fine art of patience) and gave her the courage to take risks. She later received a M.Ed. from Endicott College in Massachusetts. She envisioned and then built an environmentally-friendly one-room schoolhouse, which she owned and ran successfully in Upstate New York before moving with her family to the Big Island of Hawaii in the summer of 2017.
Since moving to the Big Island, Laura has enjoyed being the photographer for ocean front weddings, portraits, local athletic events and even a baby luau! Laura’s photographs have been featured in Montessori Life and Life in the Fingerlakes. You can explore examples of her work at LauraReidPhotos.com.
When not out with her camera, Laura teaches and coaches professionals on how to grow their businesses through the art of storytelling. Since launching Storyforth, Storyforth.io, she has inspired countless stories to be told and recently was invited to speak at a conference in Bangkok, Thailand where she empowered other women to tell their stories.
Laura is in constant awe of the extraordinary beauty of Hawaii and the warmth of the people and new friends she is grateful to have met. She cherishes giving back to the community through volunteering with Hospice and as a mentor at the Waimea Middle School. Laura is also a member of Waimea Toastmasters and Waimea Professionals Business Networking International (BNI).
Laura believes that art is essential to life and continues to be inspired by those who believe the same.
